Peace is possible
« Peace is possible » have been the words in mind since December 2024, when former US président Joe Biden first put them down. He would later give this legacy to to his successor D.Trump : a project that is not yet finished, under negotiation, but struggling to ready a conclusion.
Amnesty international have reported on mass famine, with the global acute malnutrition rate exceeding 10%. Child malnutrition is at critical level. Aid is also blocked far too tightly by Israel. Trucks from associations remain at the borders without ever reaching their missions (mainly blocked in Jordan and Egypt) waiting patiently to access. However, this can’t be possible without the agreement of Israeli’s government who are slow to give their consent. Israel had already blocked food needs in March 2025 as a weapon against the population, but this was partially lifted in May. However the aid accepted is very small and comes mainly from UNRWA.
Even humanitarian workers are in the middle of the crise and are also looking for food. According to Amnesty International, reserves are empty and the search for food is difficult.
Humanitarian agencies have the capacity and resources to provide a response on the scale needed, but it is impossible to penetrante the territory. A ceasefire must be found as a matter of emergency to allow the care and access to food that the population needs as quickly as possible.
Some countries are willing to act, like France who has decided to officially recognise the state of Palestine. A ceasefire is said to be under discussion to enable the response to the expected aid in the hope of a positive outcome this time.
